

Places for People undertook a two year
programme to map the assets we have responsibility for
maintaining. This covered over 1000 neighbourhoods, 38,000
properties and over 950 acres of land.
The project not only covered our grass, trees and hard surfaces,
but signage, play facilities and security cameras too.
The map data was stored in our Geographic Information
System. This supports efficient management of our
Green Spaces and sustainability of our
neighbourhoods. From the programme, we've been able to:
- Procure and manage grounds maintenance services.
- Better plan our asset investment and maintenance
programmes.
- Comply with legal, regulatory and health and safety
requirements.
- Make sure our service charges for estate management are
appropriate.
- Support housing management staff to deliver effective
neighbourhood and customer services.
The programme allowed us to produce Management &
Maintenance Plans and Specifications for our
neighbourhoods and develop a new Grounds Maintenance
Specification and benchmarking process.
