Places for People manages over 300 homes at
their St Paul's scheme in Bristol. Working in
partnership with Bristol City Council and St Paul's
Unlimited, almost £1 million has been invested into the
regeneration of St Paul's Park, St Agnes Park and Brunswick
Cemetery creating a 'green corridor'.
The award-winning regeneration initiative has created
accessible, high quality environments in the heart of the city.
It's also provided imaginative play and sports areas, attractive
community meeting places and innovative artwork and sculptures. The
works have transformed the cemetery into a bright and attractive
garden but retained its peaceful and historic character.
At St Paul's Park a community space to relax and play
has been created. A unique event space with ground anchor points
has also been developed for circus performances and training in
partnership with Circomedia, a local circus and
theatre performance group.
Following the regeneration, a series of community events were held
to encourage public participation including the Bristol Do
Cultural Olympiad, which attracted over 9,000 people for a
programme of social, family and community celebration events.
St Paul's Park was awarded the Best Urban Green
Space by the Local Government News Street Design
Awards. St Agnes Park received a Planting
Places Award and Brunswick Cemetery was recognised at the
annual Landscape Institute Awards.
The regeneration as a whole has received the prestigious
Green Flag Award, the national standard for parks
and green spaces in England and Wales.
